JSWISS AND MICHAEL LEONHART DELIVER ANTICIPATED DUO PROJECT, THE ALCHEMY EP

Undeterred by the limitations of the pandemic, JSWISS  and Grammy - winning trumpeter, Michael Leonhart deliver the complete and anticipated duo project, The Alchemy EP.

With the book, Manuscript Found in Accra, by renowned novelist Paulo Coelho serving in part as inspiration, the five-song EP, which includes standout singles, “BLACKOUT”, “On The Money” and “Defeat” boasts dynamic arrangements and top-notch lyricism, while offering musical vibes that combine raw, hip hop beats and orchestral soundscapes. It’s a winning combination perhaps as unlikely as the duo of JSWISS and Leonhart itself, but proves destiny can not be denied.

The Alchemy EP continues to establish JSWISS’ place amongst the game’s elite lyricists while Leonhart solidifies his acclaim providing a perfectly infectious, and lush musical canvas. Check out The Alchemy EP promotional video below.

The Alchemy EP is now available on BandCamp and other major platforms

JSWISS and Michael Leonhart interpret Paulo Coelho’s meaning of “Solitude”

“Solitude is not the absence of company, but the moment when our soul is free to speak to us.” These words come from noted Brazilian author, Paulo Coelho’s book “Manuscript Found In Accra" and like standout previous release, "Defeat", was the inspiration for the track "Solitude" from the duo of accomplished Rap artist JSWISS and Grammy -winning trumpeter and producer, Michael Leonhart. It's the fourth single release from their debut project, The Alchemy EP.

Talented MC Dizzy SenZe also guest on this upbeat banger as classic hip hop drum flourishes and upright bass lay the canvas for top notch lyricism with a message as JSWISS spits affirmations like, "I'm clear of fear and the odds/Rebel without a pause/doing work on my spirit/never need the applause."  The Alchemy EP drops January 2021

JSWISS and Michael Leonhart offer stunning, “DEFEAT” as a soundtrack for triumph.

"Only he who gives up is defeated/ The defeated are those who never fail / You don’t take the opportunity to lose / You don’t get the opportunity to win.” JSWISS passionately proclaims those words over the horn and string-driven climax of "Defeat", the third single from he and Grammy-winning, producer, composer and trumpeter Michael Leonhart.

This follow-up to their acclaimed first two singles released, “BLACKOUT” and “On The Money” is a hard-hitting and spirited reminder that the true champions in life don't run from failure, but overcome it. "Defeat" is also one of three songs inspired by themes from award-winning author Paulo Coelho's book "Manuscript Found In Accra", all of which appear on the duos' upcoming 5-song release, The Alchemy EP, which drops in January 2021.

“On The Money” is the second single from producer/MC duo Michael Leonhart & JSWISS, following the powerful tribute to Black Excellence, “BLACKOUT”. “On The Money” utilizes the same rich orchestral palette present at the genesis of the pair’s collaboration: the Michael Leonhart Orchestra’s monthly residency at NYC venue Jazz Standard, during which JSWISS guested for performances which were broadcast on NPR & WBGO.

Inspired by and dedicated to JSWISS’ late maternal grandparents -- who both passed away within the last 17 months -- “On The Money” is a song about loss, but an energetic one that even more so serves as a celebration of life. With dynamic live strings and horns as a canvas for meaningful lyrics and a dope delivery, the duo cultivates a sound that creates a cinematic swag fitting for this uplifting tribute.
