Last night JSWISS made history as the first hip-hop artist to perform at the NY Botanical Garden in the Bronx in the Garden’s storied century-long history. JSWISS and his band were invited to perform all night for a sold out crowd of 3,000+ during Chihuly Nights, showcasing the works of glass artist Dale Chihuly. Making history and moving crowds.
JSWISS and guitarist Wes Mingus, who has played on albums from the Wu-Tang Clan and Ghostface Killah separately, packed the house at Rockwood Music Hall in New York City for a unique duo show that featured Wes crafting all of the music on baritone guitar and loop pedal. They also invited No9to5’s own Chandanie and well as emcee Silent Knight, saxophonist Atsushi Ouchi and trumpeter Matt Giella into the mix as guests throughout. Watch recap video of some of the best moments above, shot by 1221 Media & Entertainment.
2016 was a real active year. Just the month of December alone was real active, so it’s easy to have missed things. We’ve got you covered though with all the most notable moments and music from JSWISS in 2016.
“I Wish” is a collaboration between myself and hip-hop/jazz band Temple5 that comes right on time at the end of the year as the perfect medicine for a world that has been through a rough 2016.
With lines like “I wish change did come with a new election/ I highly doubt it got no reason for a new perception” and a chorus that hopes for more love and peace, despite being recorded in the earlier part of the year, “I Wish” couldn’t possibly be more relevant.
